Basskiarre

Basskiarre, aka Bassjkjarre, a swamp east of the Ruhnu village which was drained for pasture. The lake was drained with the help of the ditch excavated in 1910 and with that, the only Ruhnu´s stream, which flew through the village situated in the central part of the island to the sea near the cape of Pärsi, disappeared. A coastal wall that separated the lagoon on the place of todays Basskiarre and Haubjerre from the surronding Littorina Sea consists of fine sand with gravel and pebble covered with posterior wind sediments.

Baskiarre is an object of cultural heritage.
